Zinsser Odor Killing Primers

Zinsser Odor Killing Primer is a water-based, low-odor solution designed to permanently seal and eliminate tough odors from interior surfaces. Whether you're dealing with lingering smells from pets, food, smoke, or fire damage, this primer locks in odors and prevents them from resurfacing. It applies white and dries to a clear, low-sheen finish, making it compatible with all paints and clear finishes—both water- and oil-based.

Ideal for use on wood subfloors, cabinets, walls, ceilings, drywall, plaster, masonry, metal, and PVC, this primer offers excellent adhesion even to glossy surfaces like enamel, varnish, laminate, and ceramic tile—without the need for sanding or deglossing. It’s suitable for both residential and commercial interiors and can be applied with a brush, roller, or sprayer. For severe odor issues, a second coat may be applied.

Drying time is quick—touch dry in 25 minutes and ready to recoat in 45 minutes. Full adhesion and hardness develop within seven days. Cleanup is easy with soap and water, and the formula is safe for indoor use. While it effectively seals existing odors, it is not a disinfectant and will not prevent future odor development. Zinsser Odor Killing Primer is not recommended for exterior surfaces or areas exposed to high humidity or water immersion.
