This penetrating alkyd-oil basecoat provides excellent adhesion to ensure a strong bond for subsequent top coats, while its transparent finish enriches the natural grain of the wood with signature clarity. Once applied, it lays the groundwork for premium durability, weather resistance, and enhanced color richness when followed by two coats of ProLuxe 23 Top Coat RE.

Engineered to defend against outdoor elements, the formula also helps create a mildew-resistant finish that keeps exterior wood surfaces looking their best. It is ideal for siding, trim, and other vertical applications, as well as outdoor projects that require deep, lasting protection. For areas exposed to high moisture, such as fences or furniture, two coats of Primary Coat RE are recommended to maximize performance.

Application is straightforward—brush on one even coat in the direction of the grain, working steadily to maintain a wet edge and avoid lap marks. Once dry, follow with two coats of 23 Top Coat RE to complete the system. With its ability to penetrate, seal, and highlight natural wood character while preparing the surface for long-term protection, ProLuxe 1 Primary Coat RE Wood Finish is the foundation of a premium finish built to last.

Penetrating alkyd-oil basecoat enhances natural wood grain

Provides excellent adhesion for the ProLuxe three-coat system

Creates a mildew-resistant finish for lasting protection

Transparent formula delivers clarity and richness of color

One coat required; two coats recommended for high-moisture areas

Designed to be followed with two coats of 23 Top Coat RE

Ideal for siding, trim, fences, and exterior wood projects

https://www.tools4painting.com/products/proluxe-1gal-1-primary-coat-re-transparent-satin-wood-finishes
